Neighborhood Watch Program
The Federal Heights Neighborhood Watch Program
Neighborhood watch started in 1972 and is one of the oldest and most effective prevention programs in the country. Neighborhood Watch is sponsored by the National Sheriff's Association and brings citizens and law enforcement together to make communities safer.
The Federal Heights Police Neighborhood Watch Program is a citizen involvement program. Citizens, in cooperation with the Federal Heights Police Department, directly participate in the detection and prevention of crime in their neighborhood. Citizens involved in the Neighborhood Watch program are trained in how to recognize suspicious or criminal activities and report these activities to the police department. In short, Neighborhood Watch citizens provide valuable information to the law enforcement agency, which helps, investigate suspicious activities, apprehend criminals and ultimately prevent crime. The Police Department is also facilitating neighborhood watch meetings to help increase public safety.
