Car Seat Check Up
Car Seats Colorado
The mission of Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Team Colorado is to provide an environment in Colorado where every child is properly secured in an approved and appropriate restraint system while riding in a motor vehicle. By leveraging and creating successful partnerships with public safety and community based organizations, CPS Team Colorado will aid in establishing, maintaining and enhancing public education, technical training, and advocacy.
Is Your Child in the Right Car Seat? Know For Sure!
Three out of four parents think their child is in the right car seat, but they are not. Car Seats Colorado is dedicated to keeping kids age 0-15 safe on Colorado roadways.
Motor vehicle injuries represent the leading cause of death among children age 0–15 years old in the U.S. (Source: NHTSA, 2008 data). Many of these deaths can be prevented. Placing children in age-appropriate and size-appropriate car seats and booster seats reduces serious and fatal injuries by more than half.
Schedule an Inspection or Installation
Currently the City of Federal Heights has five certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians. Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technicians are certified to install and inspect child safety car seats to ensure that they meet federal standards and are properly installed in accordance with State statutes. Those needing car seat checks may stop by the station or call for an appointment, 303-427-7209.
Car Seat Recycle Center
The Federal Heights Fire Department, in cooperation with the Colorado State Patrol, Car Seats Colorado and Colorado Department of Transportation, is now a car seat recycle center. In the past, car seats were simply rendered non usable and thrown in the trash. This program allows them to be 100% re-purposed once they have been processed into a dust form. If you have a car seat that has been in an accident, has been damaged or is just too old, bring it to the Fire Station to be recycled.
