Dale Sparks
Dale Sparks (Term of Office 1999 - 2007)
Dale Sparks was born in Lexington, Nebraska on July 31, 1951. When he was seven years old, Dale and his adoptive parents, Russell and Beverly Sparks, moved to Federal Heights where he has spent most of his life. Dale graduated from Iver C. Ranum High School in 1969, and attended one year of college. He began his working career in 1970 as a meat cutter for King Soopers, making $3.19/hour.
Dale and his wife Sharon were married in 1970. Their only daughter, Kelly, passed away in 2009. They have owned several businesses in Federal Heights, most notably, Rodeo Market #2, and during the time he served as mayor, the Smokin' Mayor BBQ, a name suggested by the City Clerk at the time, Phyllis Schott. Dale belonged to the Fraternal Order of Foresters for several years.
During Dale's time as Mayor, the City brought Safeway to its location at 104th Avenue and Federal Boulevard, a street he has seen grow from a one and one-half lane gravel road to a highway with a traffic count of thousands of cars per day.
