Emergency Declaration: Safer At Home
In response to the threat to the community presented by COVID-19 in Adams County and neighboring cities, City Manager Jacqueline Halburnt, issued an emergency declaration for the City of Federal Heights on March 17, 2020. The City has taken and will continue to keep taking additional steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the interest of public health. All Federal Heights government buildings were closed to the public between March 18, 2020 and May 31, 2020, in compliance with Governor Polis' orders. During this time frame, there was not one single employee of the City that was infected with COVID-19.
Starting June 1, 2020, and continuing through December 31, 2020, work schedules have been adjusted to provide the highest level of service and the greatest protection of public health in compliance with the most recent public health guidance. City Hall will be open to the public Tuesday–Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with most City Hall employees working two of those four days in the office and two of those days from home. The best way to contact employees is via email or telephone. Water bills and court tickets must be paid using the dropbox in the city hall parking lot or online at www.fedheights.org.
Most departments outside of City Hall have always worked flexible schedules and will continue to be as flexible as possible in their scheduling to reflect the City's commitment to public health and the community during this epidemic. The Police Department, Fire Department and Public Works Department have implemented modified response guidelines. Police will attempt to resolve issues via telephone and, of course, respond to emergencies. Dispatch is screening calls for COVID-19 symptoms and paramedics will respond in full protective gear if COVID-19 symptoms are identified.
In the interest of our community’s health and safety, the Mayor and City Council have passed an electronic participation policy. Until further notice, all City Council meetings will be held via GoToMeeting. The link and call-in phone number will be published in accordance with Open Meetings Law.
The City of Federal Heights would like to reassure our community that we are working closely with federal, state and local public health agencies to closely monitor the situation with COVID-19 and continue to remain prepared for a potential outbreak. The city encourages everyone to continue to follow rigorous sanitation practices, including thorough hand washing and staying home if you have flu-like symptoms.
