Commercial Fire Safety Inspections

Each year, hundreds of thousands of fires are reported in commercial structures across the United States.  According to the National Fire Protection Association, over 100,000 commercial fires were reported in the U.S. in 2013, leading to nearly $2.2 billion dollars in direct property damage.  For this reason, the City of Federal Heights has adopted the 2015 International Fire Code.  All businesses within the City are inspected by the fire department annually to ensure compliance with the code and ensure the safest possible environment for our residents.

Plan Review

All plans for new construction and remodeling are reviewed by the Fire Department prior to the issuance of construction permits, ensuring compliance with fire code requirements.  Fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire hydrants, access for fire apparatus, proper exits, permitted occupancy loads, etc. are inspected.

School Visits

Each year the Federal Heights Fire Department participates in a number of school-related fire prevention and public education programs. Fire department personnel conduct safety demonstrations, give talks to young adults, and participate in a read-to-ride program that promotes increased reading and learning objectives for children.
