Animal Licensing
The owner of any dog over the age of six months shall obtain an annual license from the City of Federal Heights for such animal within 30 days after the owner establishes residency in the City, takes possession of the animal or the animal attains the age of six months whichever occurs last.
To apply for a license, the applicant shall exhibit a signed certificate from a veterinarian that the animal has been inoculated against rabies. The animal owner shall pay an annual license fee which shall be reduced for any animal owner who presents written proof from a veterinarian that the animal has been spayed or neutered. The annual fee for a spayed or neutered animal is $2.50; the annual fee for an animal which has not been spayed or neutered is $5.00.
ANIMAL LICENSE APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT CITY HALL.
ANIMAL LICENSES MAY ALSO BE OBTAINED BY COMPLETING THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1) Complete and print fillable Animal License Application Form (link below);
2) Return the form, proof of rabies inoculation and fee to City Hall.
a) Application Form and proof of rabies may be emailed to FrontDesk@fedheights.org, mailed or placed in the utility drop box in the City Hall parking lot at 2380 W. 90th Ave., Federal Heights;
b) Fee may be paid by cash or check by mail or by being placed in the utility drop box in the City Hall parking lot at 2380 W. 90th Ave., Federal Heights, or by credit card by calling City Hall, 303-428-3526 (a credit card transaction fee will be charged).
Once all information has been received by the City, a tag will be provided to the animal’s owner by mail. The tag should be kept upon the animal’s collar or harness at all times.
