Sixteen year-old Bertie Montgomery won $2.00 cash in the USDA's Boys'
and Girls' Club Show in Okfuskee County in 1913 for her entry in the
canning club (last line of the article).  Her younger brother, Alonzo, was
the top winner in the corn show (first line), winning $10.00 and a suit
of clothes with his entry in the corn category.
 
 
Bertie's 1913 report received a second place at the
1913 state fair (fourth line from the bottom).
 
 
Bertie was listed as a delegate to the 1914 State Fair School
held in Oklahoma City under the auspices of the
A & M College in Stillwater.
