TRACT #59 - JOHN ROMOLO AND MARY ROMOLO

John and Mary Romolo were the 37th and 38th signers of the 1940 Federal Heights Petition to Incorporate.  They had purchased the East One-Half of the West One-Half of the south One-Half of the south One-Half of the Southwest One-Quarter of the Southwest One-Quarter of the Southeast One-Quarter of Section 20, Township Two (2) South, Range Sixty-Eight (68) West of the Sixth (6th) P.M., later identified as Tract #59, from Pasquale and Josephine Lombardi on April 6, 1940.

Giovanni (John) Romolo was born in Italy in 1864.  He arrived in America in 1890 and became a naturalized citizen in 1900.

Maria (Mary) Vitiello was born in 1868 in Naples, Italy.  She arrived in New York City on May 6, 1898, on the ship Scindia and was soon married to Agostino (Tony) Ferrone.  Mary and Tony had two children, Josephine, born in 1899, and Annie, born in 1905.  Mary's husband, Tony, and her daughter, Annie, both died in 1906.  Their daughter, Josephine, was later married to Pasquale Lombardi, who became the first Mayor of Federal Heights.

After John Romolo and Mary were married, they lived at 3651 Kalamath Street in Denver for many years.  They never lived in Federal Heights.  The couple deeded Tract #59 back to Pasquale and Josephine Lombardi on August 1, 1945.

John died in 1948 and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
