Ruston Park Phase A - Project Partners
Mile High Flood District is managing this phase of the Ruston Park Master Plan because significant changes are being made to the drainage features that flow through the park from the Northborough neighborhood and join Niver Creek. They have been a fantastic partner for the City of Federal Heights and have contributed significant funding to this project in addition to coordinating Design Professionals to design the project and managing the project from beginning to end.
Mile High Flood District is the regional resource for stormwater and watershed management. Since 1969, they have been designing and building effective flood control and warning measures, open spaces, and regional paths, as well as removing trash and debris in the streams and rivers of the Denver Metro Region.
ICON Engineering was selected by the City of Federal Heights and the Mile High Flood District to design all the renovations and improvements to Ruston Park's Phase A Development project because of their creative and 'out of the box' thinking that led to creative designs that manage stormwater flows in the most naturalistic way possible. Their careful attention to the metrics needed to ensure that the stormwater system and the creek function for people, the park, wildlife and the region have resulted in this plan that we expect will win design awards in the future for stormwater management systems.
Founded in January 1997, ICON Engineering, Inc. is a locally owned and operated consulting civil engineering firm based in Centennial, Colorado. ICON specializes in complex floodplain modeling and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, development of river and drainage master plans, stream stabilization and restoration improvements, design of utility and storm water infrastructure, roadway design, and geospatial solutions.
DHM Design was selected in 2011 to begin work on the Master Plan for Ruston Park. This park site is very challenging. It had access issues, major utilities, extreme grade changes and lots of ideas from residents and staff who provided feedback during the Master Plan Process. DHM was selected by ICON Egnineering to be the Lanscape Architect on the construction and final design of this project and their insight into the community, it's feedback during the Master Plan Process and the design constraints of the site that informed the Master Plan have been invaluable.
DHM was founded over four decades ago in Denver. One of their earliest projects was the master plan for Genesee, a residential development committed to the preservation of its views, open space, and unique foothills ecosystem — a “conservation community,” before that concept was widely understood. Since then, they have opened offices in Carbondale and Durango, Colorado, and Bozeman, Montana. From an original focus on the front range, their geographic base has expanded throughout the Great Basin and beyond. The scope of their work now includes planning and design for resort and residential communities, historic properties, civic spaces, local and National Parks, tribal lands, legacy ranches and high-end residences.
Tezak Heavy Equipment was selected by the Mile High Flood District to construct the project. Their expertise and experience with similar projects all along the Front Range led to thoughtful selection of construction materials and creative problem solving during the final phases of design on this project.
Established in 1989, Tezak Heavy Equipment is a second-generation, family-owned civil construction company headquartered in South-Central Colorado. Their reputation was built through the quality of their projects which include bridges, box/pipe culverts, boulder drop structures, riprap placement, landslide repair, scour protection, in addition to building roads, installing utilities and rehabilitating channels.
Arrowhead Landscaping, Inc. team members are re-vegetation consultation and installation specialists. They are a family owned business serving the front range for over 18 years. Innovative solutions, timely and high quality installation keep us in high demand year round.
Their highly qualified technicians are trained in installation of all types of erosion control products.
