Boards, Commissions and Committees

The City Clerk processes the appointments to the City's boards, commissions and committees. The City Council appoints advisory boards and commissions as established by ordinance.  Members of each board, commission and committee serve without compensation. Below are descriptions of each board and membership information.

Historical Committee

One of City Council's goals in its 2018 Strategic Management Plan was to appoint volunteers to serve on a Historical Committee.  The Committee's purpose was stated to be to preserve, interpret and share Federal Heights historical past by collecting memories from older members of the community, former City Council members and their families, publications and photos.

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning & Zoning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding policies related to planning and development and reviews variance requests to the zoning code.  The seven-member citizen commission is appointed by the City Council with one member from each ward and four members at-large.  All serve two-year terms begin on January 1 following appointment by the City Council.
