Message from Mayor Montoya

My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by the new Coronavirus. We are facing uncertainty, and everything changes hourly. I can't tell you how proud I am of our first responders, who without hesitation, continue to show up to work and take care of our residents in need. Their protocols have changed slightly and if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19, they will show up in full protective gear. Our Police Department is trying to handle most cases over the phone, but will, of course, show up in an emergency. This is to protect you and them. It's important to keep our police, fire, and dispatchers healthy. City Hall is now open to the public Tuesday-Friday with extended business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is closed on Mondays. All employees are still working, and all services are still available.

Our City Council adopted a remote attendance policy and will be holding City Council meetings virtually using an app called GoToMeeting.  The link and call-in phone number will be listed on the agenda, which can be found on the City’s website and Facebook page at least 24-hours before the meeting. Anyone is welcome to listen in on the meetings. Beginning in April, and remaining in place through August, City Council decided to hold only two meetings a month during the first and third weeks at the same time and day: Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m.

The number of cases in Federal Heights and Adams County is updated regularly on the Tri-County Health Department Case Update Page.

I am a leader for the City, and I want you to join me in being a leader for our community. Please take this pandemic seriously. Stay at home if you can to help stop the spread of the virus and flatten the curve. If you must go out, practice social distancing and stay six feet away from others. Use elbow bumps instead of shaking hands, wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds and don't touch your face. If you need help, we're here. Always dial 911 for emergencies and 303-428-8833 for 24-hour non-emergency dispatch. Take care of yourself and others.
