Certified VIN Inspection

 

As part of the Certified VIN Inspection program, the following changes will be in effect:

  • Certified VIN Inspections Will Now Be Offered By Appointment on Thursdays Only.
  • Trailer Inspections Are Not Offered At This Location
    Inspections will be limited to passenger vehicles and motorcycles only.
  • Inspection Fee and Payment Methods Updated
    Inspection fee is $54.00. Only cash, credit card with a processing fee of $2.00, or money order/certified funds will be accepted.
    Personal checks will not be accepted.
 

What is a Certified VIN Inspection?

A Certified VIN Inspection is a detailed physical inspection required for certain vehicles that have been significantly altered, rebuilt, or lack standard ownership documentation. This inspection confirms the identity of the vehicle and its major components.
Only certified personnel, such as members of the Colorado State Patrol or authorized law enforcement agencies, may perform Certified VIN Inspections.

 

How to Schedule a Certified VIN Inspection

  1. Contact the Colorado DMV
    • Confirm whether your vehicle requires a Certified VIN Inspection.
    • Obtain the necessary paperwork and official inspection form.
  2. Ensure the Vehicle is Operable
    • Only roadworthy and fully operational vehicles will be inspected.
  3. Schedule an Appointment
    • Appointments must be made online through the online portal below.
    • Inspections will be conducted on Thursdays.
  4. Bring Your Vehicle and Paperwork
    • Arrive at the Federal Heights Police Department with your completed paperwork and your vehicle on the scheduled date and time.
